  4. We Know That... -all students need a well-structured learning environment -all students need connections w/teacher & students -a knowledgeable teacher (our team has over 40 years combined experience!) -engaging learning activities -all students need recognition

  5. Instructional Team Grade-level instructional teams can be formed to coordinate teaching efforts across each discipline. Students benefit because they are exposed to the instructional wisdom of more than one teacher.   13. Reading & Writing Conferences Teachers make time for individual reading and writing conferences. Reading conferences will check for fluency and comprehension.

  17. READ to your children. LISTEN to your children read. ENCOURAGE your child to read SILENTLY…and then ask them to tell you what they read. Ask questions. CHECK OUT high-interest books, such as Bluebonnets, Newberry Winners, and books recommended by friends. As parents, we understand that schedules can be very busy and hectic. Sometimes creative solutions, such as completing reading/studying for DOS/DOG in the car on the way to games or practices, might be necessary.

  24. IMPROVE NUMBER FLUENCY Students practice numerical fluency daily. In third grade the students will be expected to learn multiplication facts 0-12. Multiplication skills will be practiced weekly beginning in the 5th 6 weeks .

Homework • Homework includes the following BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO the following… • Edmodo (weekly) • Reading (daily) • Studying for DOG/DOS (daily) • Math Practice (usually starting 2nd semester.) • Stemscopes (science: on an as needed basis) • Think Through Math (as needed) • Projects (as needed) • **All homework assignments are created to REINFORCE TEKS previously covered in class**
