Interim Housing Project • The project is a partnership between the Town of Slave Lake, the MD of Lesser Slave River and the Government of Alberta to provide interim housing units to displaced residents. • Originally we targeted 350 units. Today, the required amount of homes stands at 269. • Alberta Infrastructure is serving as a Construction Manager and is managing the project on behalf of the Government of Alberta and Town of Slave Lake. • Housing and Urban Affairs will procure the units and in collaboration with the Town, will determine the priority for interim homes to be allocated.

  4. Project Requirements • The project plan includes the following expected work: • Offsite work including engineering drawings, unit procurement and construction plans. • Site Grading and Services include: clearing, grubbing, backfill and land servicing. • Unit installation, utility hook-up including: power, sewer, skirting, stairs and phone and television accessibility. • Maintenance of all units and site for two years.

  12. Interim Housing Project vs. Normal Timelines

  13. Project Notes • Safety is our main concern as construction occurs in residential areas: • Phased process ensures that there will be separation between units being occupied and units being installed. • Utility hookups will take place in areas adjacent to occupied units, placing a barrier between residents and heavy equipment. • Security fencing will be erected. • Wherever possible, local contractors and labor is used. We have been successful to date in recruiting local companies. • Town officials are engaged in every step of the process and meet weekly with project personnel for updates.
