  1. Team PCG – October Program Review Primary Faculty Advisor: Dr. Nuxoll Secondary Faculty Advisor: Dr. Crenshaw Industry Advisor: Andy McConnell Client: Dr. Cantrell Ben Co (Fall Team Lead), Wendelin Mueller, Garrett Gustafson, and Julia Weimar-East On Project LightBox

  2. Project Overview Figure 1: Rough Sketch of Final Product (Upright)

  3. Milestones

  4. LED Feasibility Testing

  5. Additional Accomplishments • Created a mock 4x4 LED grid with a mixture of red, green, and blue LEDs. • Discovered that LEDs of different brands have various intensities when using the same voltage. So, we have decided to purchase additional LEDs other than those provided by Dr. Cantrell. • Gave device blueprints to Allen Hansen so that he could create a wooden prototype of our device. This will help us figure out what kind of materials we will need for our final product.

  6. Additional Accomplishments Continued… • Faculty Support • We met with Dr. Mayer, Dr. Lu, Dr. Osterberg, and Allen Hansen • They have helped us decide on project materials and technologies • Light sources • Materials for physical LightBox • USB vs. Serial Interface

  7. Upcoming Milestones

  8. Design Component – User Interface Figure 2: An example of the GUI in use

  9. Design Component – LightBox Blueprints

  10. Issues/Concerns • The milestone for delivering the final enclosure specs to the machine shop might have a later completion date. This will depend on how much time we have to work with the wooden prototype. • The exact amount of LEDs we will need in our final product is unknown since the ones we have currently operate with various intensities.

  11. Conclusion • We are on schedule so far! • We have begun feasibility testing on the LEDs that were provided by Dr. Cantrell, setting up a mock LED grid that will eventually be used in the final product. • Having good faculty support has been extremely helpful. • We will still prevail!
