  2. RESEARCH - PUBLISHED 2001 • Conductor Study“Guideline for the analysis of jackup and fixed platform well conductor systems” (July 2001) • Relief and Blowdown Systems (RaBs) JIP“Guidelines for the safe and optimum design of hydrocarbon pressure relief and blowdown systems” (August 2001)

  3. RESEARCH - PLANNED 2002 • Jetfire“Guideline for the design & protection of pressure systems to withstand severe fires” Work in progress on interim guidelines. May result in new industry JIP. Budget of £50,000 available (S204) • Subsea BundlesWorkshop held at IP January 2002.Outcome: form a new JIP to write industry guidelines. No funding yet.

  4. COMPETENCE OF PROFESSIONAL AND MANAGERIAL STAFF WORKING IN THE GLOBAL OIL & GAS INDUSTRY

  5. QUESTION 1: DOES THE GLOBAL PETROLEUM INDUSTRY HAVE STANDARDS OF COMPETENCE FOR ITS PROFESSIONAL AND MANAGERIAL STAFF?

  6. QUESTION 2: WOULD SUCH STANDARDS OF COMPETENCE IMPROVE THE INDUSTRY’S SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENTAL PERFORMANCE?

  7. PROPOSAL: TO INVITE SENIOR MANAGERS TO A WORKSHOP TO DEFINE THE RISKS AND BENEFITS OF DEVELOPING A COMMON COMPETENCE FRAMEWORK
