At Pink, we have named this Y.O.L.O. which will stand for Your Opportunity to Lead Others. Students will participate in weekly classroom meetings where guided discussions will take place regarding peer relations, problem solving, bullying, etc. The goal is to help students take ownership over developing strategies to reduce and/or eliminate bullying at Pink.

Olweus Bullying Prevention Program • YOLO = OBPP • Nationally recognized anti-bullying program that is being implemented throughout FISD • Focuses on increased supervision of hot spots, classroom meetings for students to discuss bullying issues, better definitions of staff responsibility and follow through

  7. What OBPP is….. • Designed for all students • Preventive and responsive • Focused on changing norms and restructuring the school setting • Research-based • Key components: School, Classroom, Community, Individual

  8. What OBPP is NOT…. • A curriculum • A conflict resolution approach • A peer mediation program • An anger management program • A classroom management technique

  9. School-Level Components • School rules and consequences are aligned with FISD bullying policies • Use of positive consequences and negative consequences; Increase supervision of hot spots Backchannel comments: http://www.todaysmeet.com/rmsolweus

  11. Classroom-Level Components • OBPP is not a classroom management program, but is a way of helping teachers hone behavior management skills. • Rules: We will not bully others, We will try to help students who are bullied, we will try to include students who are left out, and if I know about someone who is being bullied I will let and adult at school or home know. 12. Anti-bullying We will not bully others. We will try to help students who are bullied. We will try to include students who are left out. If we know that somebody is being bullied, we will tell an adult at school and an adult at home.

  13. Individual-Level Components • In this realm, we are to supervise students’ activities, ensure that all staff intervene on-the-spot when bullying occurs, hold meetings with students involved in bullying, and develop individual intervention plans for involved students.
