  1. Help For Heroes ChallengeAre You Up for It? THE SPONSORED SKYDIVE! Strathclyde Help for Heroes Society

  2. A bit about us.... • Brand New Society only affiliated in October 2010 • Past four months we’ve held an Awareness Raising Stall in the Union, sold Official H4H Wristbands, held a Commando Themed Charity Pub Crawl, helped out at a Church Event dedicated to H4H, held a Pub Quiz, a Valentines Bake Stall and been interviewed by Real Radio! • So far we’ve managed to raise just under £600 for ‘our blokes’ • And we still have a Geek Themed Social, a bag pack and the skydive to go....

  3. The Charity "It’s about the 'blokes', our men and women of the Armed Forces. It’s about Derek, a rugby player who has lost both his legs, it’s about Carl whose jaw is wired up so he has been drinking through a straw. It’s about Richard who was handed a mobile phone as he lay on the stretcher so he could say goodbye to his wife. It’s about Ben, it’s about Steven and Andy and Mark, it’s about them all. They are just blokes but they are our blokes; they are our heroes. We want to help our heroes.“ Practical, direct support for our wounded.

  4. The SKYDIVE... For beginners.... The Tandem Jump! • Jump from 10,000ft • Experience freefall for 30 seconds • Travelling at up to 120MPH! • With an experienced instructor on your back • No experience necessary • 20 minute Introductory Training Required

  5. THE SKYDIVE... For the more daring amongst us... The Solo Static Line Jump! • Jump solo from 3,500ft • No experience necessary • 6 Hour Training required Best option if you’re thinking of taking up skydiving as a hobby!

  6. So who can take part? • Anyone and everyone! • Students, staff, researchers, even people who have no association with the University! • Our aim is simply to raise as much money for Help for Heroes as possible this Summer!

  7. Cool, so when is it? • Saturday 2nd – Sunday 3rd July 2011 • Strathallan Skydiving Centre • Training for the Solo Static Line Jump will be held on Saturday while those doing the Tandem are jumping. On the Sunday, everyone doing a Solo will jump along with the last of the Tandem Jumpers!

  8. But where will I stay? This is where the fun begins... • As part of your weekend, accomodation is included in the price and will be provided by the centre. • The catch? You will need a sleeping bag– we’re camping! And that’s not all we have planned…

  9. The entertainment... We have to be honest with you, as a Society we love a good lash up! So whether you’ll be calming those last minute jumping nerves or just getting over the fright of jumping, we’ve got a Yank styled FRAT PARTY planned for you all on the Saturday night! Expect Keg stands, camp fires and Burgers! Yeah, we thought it was pretty damn good too.

  10. Sounds good so far, but how do i get there? • The Mode of Transport will of course be dependent on numbers. • The plan at the moment is to organise a Car Poole amongst those going but obviously if numbers for the event are more than we first anticipated then Mini Buses will be booked instead. • Those who kindly offer their services for the Car Poole will of course be refunded for their petrol.

  11. Okay, how much? A Skydive, sponsored or not, was always going to be an expensive event but we’ve tried to keep the costs down for you as much as possible. We understand that money is tight for everyone right now and we also want to raise as much money as possible for Help for Heroes. An initial deposit of £70 must be paid on or before 17th April 2011

  12. SO LETS GET THIS RIGHT... • The weekend includes your jump, travel, food, drink and accomodation all of which is covered by your Minimum Sponsorship Amount. This amount also makes sure that £130 will go to Help for Heroes. • So if ten people jump £1,300 will go straight to Help for Heroes • Any money that you raise on top of this amount will also go straight to the charity!

  13. I’ve signed up and paid my deposit, now what? Now the hard work begins! • Once you’ve paid your £70 deposit we’ll give you Official Help for Heroes Sponsor Sheets for you to go out and pester friends, family, even work colleagues with! • We’ll send you weekly updates and reminders to make sure that you always know what is going • Your Minimum Sponsorship Amount must be paid in cash by 17th June 2011.

  14. A little helping hand.... • You can also create an online fundraising page with bmycharity.com • If you do, make sure you register your event under ‘fundraising’, ‘other’ • Search through the ‘groups’ and tick the box beside ‘Jumping Students’ • You’ll automatically be added to our group page!

  15. INTERESTED? All we need from you today is your: • Full name • E-mail Address • Student Number • Type of jump you’re thinking of doing • Age Please write down in block capitals!
