  5. Some Unanswered Questions What is the source of the large div v in HYCOM? Does HYCOM predict SST and SSH evolution accurately? Would a waiting strategy be fruitful? Is mesoscale strain correlated with submesoscale strain? Are fronts more likely to form "ahead" of an eddy? Are any of these questions any longer important?
