  1. News • Essay due:-  Oct. 29 if all presentations made by Oct. 24-  Oct. 31 if all presentations made by Oct. 29Template for essay available in:http://diablo.phys.northwestern.edu/~mvelasco/Physics110-2013.html

  2. I need all your presentations. Please send them to me, in order to make them available to all of you using the web-page for the class • If I do not receive your presentation, then you will not get credit for the work

  3. Switching to a cycle of  Friday, Tuesday, Thursday with assigned reading and presentations - 3 teams of panelist - Each team will be in charge of a specific topic - Panelist will send list of reading material one week before panel, that is on Friday - Other teams responsible for discussing the topic with their corresponding teammates and send list of questions to panelist by Tuesday night - Panelist make their presentations and the global discussion takes place on Thursday

  4. Grading for panels • Evaluation will be based on the  preparation and written and oral participation for all three panels. • I need all the materials/information to be send to me ahead of time • Proposed reading material • Questions send to panelist by other teams • Material used during panel • If the suggested reading material is insufficient, I will send additional recommendations

  5. Panel #1 • Topic - Transportation: “Transportation sustainability and the ‘next’ revolution in transportation of people, goods and war” (4 people) - Reading material proposed by panelist due: Nov. 1- Internal discussion finished by : Nov. 5- Submission  of questions to panelist evening: Nov. 5- Panel  #1: Nov. 7

  6. Panel #2 • Topic – Urban planning: “What is the best choice to produce sustainable communities and the required development:  cities, urban or rural living?” (5 people)- Reading material proposed by panelists due: Nov. 8- Internal discussion finished by : Nov. 12- Submission of questions to panelist evening: Nov. 12- Panel #2: Nov. 14

  7. Panel #3 • Topic - Policy: “What needs to be done at the government level, and current status of  international and national planning, policy, enforcement and design  strategies to promote sustainable energy development. (5 people) - Reading material proposed by panelist due: Nov. 15- Internal discussion finished by : Nov. 19- Submission  of questions to panelist evening: Nov. 19- Panel #3: Nov. 21
