  3. Burlington Township District Goals • Provide exemplary instructional programs and practices • Maintain safe and secure schools • Develop a school community that is involved in meaningful ways • Practice effective and efficient school management and operations

  4. The Intensive Block Model • The 4 X 4 semesterized block allows students to take 4 courses per semester. • Students attend 4 seventy-eight or seventy-six minute classes each day.

  5. Period 1-2 Class -- 78 minutes Period 3-4 Class -- 76 minutes Period 5 Lunch ---- 36 minutes Period 6 Advisory -- 36 minutes Periods 7-8 Class -- 76 minutes Period 9-10 Class -- 78 minutes Instructional Schedule

A variety of learning styles can be addressed in each course, enabling more students to achieve success Students have a greater range of courses from which to select Students prepare for only four classes at a time Allows more creativity on the part of the teacher and fosters more creativity in the students

  9. Credit and Subjects Required for Graduation: 140 Credits are required for graduation including 20 credits in each of the following: • Language Arts (Literacy) • Mathematics • Science • Physical Education, Health and Safety

Additionally, the Following Subjects are required for Graduation: • United States History I and II • World History • 10 Credits in World Language • 2.5 credits in financial, economic, business, and entrepreneurial literacy • 5 Credits in Visual and Performing Arts • 5 Credits in Career Education, Consumer, Family and Life Skills, or Vocational-Technical Education

AP Program Opportunities for Course Advancement AP Biology AP Chemistry AP Physics B AP United States History AP World History AP French AP Psychology AP Music Theory AP English Literature AP Calculus AP Statistics AP Spanish Language AP Spanish Literature AP Computer Science AP German AP US Gov’t and Politics Senior College Option Seniors who have passed the HSPA and are on target to complete all coursework can take a reduced course-load senior year in order to take college courses at an area college

  12. Additional Opportunities to Earn College Credits 1. College Acceleration Program (CAP) through BCC  Offers students the opportunity to earn college credits for courses taught at BTHS Internet based classes College courses taught on the BTHS campus by college instructors: Intro to Criminal Justice and American Sign Language

  16. ADADEMICS Eligible for Semester One Completed 30 Credits and attained a GPA of 2.0 (70) or higher from the previous year (does not apply to incoming 8th grade students.) Eligible for Semester Two Completed 15 Credits and attained a GPA of 2.0 (70) or higher from semester one

  17. ATHLETICS – OTHER QUALIFICATIONS • Physical from your family physician • Signed Permission slip • NJSIAA Steroid Testing Form • Abide by the signed athletic contract • Abide by team rules • Not on the deprived list
