  2. How it works • Fuses metal powder together layer by layer - additive • Able to also make cuts by vaporizing metal in an area- subtractive • Reads from a 3D Cad file

  3. Pros • Extremely accurate cuts • Requires no additional work after the alloy is fused together • Parts are created fully solid and very strong • Vacuum removes impurities in the metal

  4. Cons • Size of part is limited to vacuum chamber • Produces gamma rays • Part must be electrically conductive

  5. Application • Hip or knee implants • Bone plates • Aerospace • Possibly on moon missions
