Howcould ESPON support the new territorial policiesthroughsupportof transnational co-operationprogrammes (INTERREG B (NWE): INTERREG B (NWE) callsfor a multitudeof easy accessiblebackgroundvisualisations in order tobeabletocommunicateandsteerprogrammeperfomance – the INTERREG B programmeprioritiesareoftentooaggregated in order matchwithexisting ESPON research … without proper communication, thereisno proper territorial co-ordinationofpolicies 1 INTERREG B callsfortypologiesandindicators in order tobettersteer transnational co-operation – so far, regional structuraleffectsareamong the mostimportantsuccessindicatorsandcompetewithotherfundingoptions, weneedtobettercommunicate the theaddedvalueof transnational approaches– itseemsthatregionsaremoreresponsiveand open toparticipation, ifproblempressureandawareness – oftenperceived in strong Lisbonperformers – ispresent 2 INTERREG B callsfor territorial evidence in order tobettersteer the programmeconcerninginnovation, but also aboutnew, emergingthemes – e.g. againabout the transnational effect: TranSMECendorsesthatgood „Lisbonperformers“ canusetransnational projectstobedriversforrestructuringandinnovationprocessesduringand after the economiccrisis 3 INTERREG B callsformoredynamicinteractionbetween the programmes – so far, the interactiveperiodsbetween the programmeswhere limited to the INTERREG programmingperiod. In the future, the ICT capacitiesallow a closerlinkagebetween e.g. the registrationofprojectsand the assessmentof territorial effect in veryshortfeedbackloops. 4
