  1. NEP WASH PROJECT SANITATION PROGRAMME A.H.GUNAPALA CHIEF SOCIOLOGIST RWS SECTION NATIONAL WATER SUPPLY & DRAINAGE BOARD

OBJECTIVES OF THE NEP WASH PROJECT SANITATION PROGRAMME • Assist to build sanitation facilities to the neediest households particularly those who do not use latrine and those who use temporary latrines; • Promote latrine construction among those HH who are living close to the water sources and encourage the source protection • Establish Sanitation Revolving Fund (SRF) for financial assistance to the HH who will not be included in the project assistance in the initial selection as well as in future demands.

  3. MAIN COMPONENTS OF THE SANITATION PROGRAMME • Assist to Build HH Level sanitary toilets • Assist to school / Health centers build sanitary facilities • Establishment of the SRF • Conduct Hygiene promotion and Environment protection programmes among school children as well as beneficiaries

  4. FUNDS ALLOCATION FOR THE SANITATION PROGRAMME • Total Amount 90,000.00 $ • Per House Hold Rs. 12,000.00 • Per School / Health Center Rs. 100,000.00

STRATEGIC FRAMEWORK AND TRANSPRANCY • Prepare the priorities list • Display the list in suitable places at the Sub project • Concurrence from DLCC • Prepare and submit the project proposal for funding • Implementation in two phases • Establishment of the SRF • PS and Health sector involvement in every stages are very essential • Monitoring and Transparency ( Targets, Quality, Transparency etc)
