  4. Turtle anatomy, cont’d • Beak-type • Sharp and Hooked = carnivore! • Broad & Flat = vegetarian! • Neck-type • Cryptodira • Can pull head into shell • Pluerodira • Contract heads to the side (like the snake-neck) • Shell • Fused ribs! • So the turtle/tortoise/whatever can’t leave their shell

  5. Shell Observations • Tortoises • Large & domed = harder for predators to crush • Heavy! • Aquatic • Streamlined = faster swimming & diving • Light – helps prevent sinking • sdfsdf
