Learn from comprehensive materials and resources, including a DVD, pamphlets, and support networks. Engage directly with service members and promote the invaluable services offered by The American Legion. Remember, it’s about SERVICE FIRST; membership will follow.

As of Feb. 28, 2009 1.5 million are on active duty with an additional 850,000 in the seven reserve components
How do I do it?? • Preparation • Download packet from internet • http://www.legion.org/whatsnew/bulletins • Check to see if you have the Operation Outreach DVD. If not, contact your Department leadership • Ensure you have your materials in hand. (TS2 pamphlet, Family Support Network, TFA, Why You Should Belong) • First contact • Arrange meeting with Cmdr. • Show video *Remember- the briefing is about support and service- Not membership. SERVICE FIRST; MEMBERSHIP WILL FOLLOW
How do I do it?? • The Event • Ideally, the meeting with the Commander will result in an opportunity to address the troops during a drill • Frequently, young service members have little or no knowledge about The American Legion • Consider this briefing an important educational briefing for them
