  4. Add to your vocabularyCopy the black, not the red Organism: an individual life form • Examples of organisms include: • Humans • Bacteria • Isopods • Trees • Viruses • Mold • Extremophiles (Ms. Branson’s fave organisms) • Non examples of organisms include: • Rocks • Soil • Air • Water • Light

  7. Examples of taxis • Phototaxis = relative to light • Chemotaxis = relative to smell • Phonotaxis = relative to sound • Geotaxis = relative to gravity

  10. Examples of kinesis • – Photokinesis: turn on light  run around randomly until encounter dark place  stop moving • – Hydrokinesis: increase activity when wet

  12. Stimulus: a detectable change in the internal or external environment that evokes a response • STIMULUS  RESPONSE • Bells  We move to the next class when we hear a bell. • Smell of food  mammals salivate
