  2. Objectives • Development of the NODC in Turkey • Create a tool for increasing collaborations between scientists in Turkey and in the region

National Oceanographic Data Inventory • In order to establish National Oceanographic Information Centers (NOICs) National Oceanographic Data Management Committee (NODMC) formed. • NODMC Members: • Department of Nav., Hydrogr. and Oceanography, Turkish Navy, • DEÜ Institute of Marine Sciences and Technology, Izmir • EU Faculty of Aquatic Sciences, Izmir • İ.Ü. Institute of Marine Sciences, Istanbul, • İ.Ü. Faculty of Aquatic Sciences, Istanbul • KTÜ Faculty of Marine Sciences, Trabzon • OMÜ Faculty of Aquatic Sciences, Sinop • General Directorate of Mineral Resources, Ankara • METU Institute of Marine Sciences, • Turkish Scientific and Technical Research Committee

Data Types (60 variables) • Coastal zone (e.g. Coastline, laguuns etc.) • Meteorological (Surface measurements) • Physical oceanography (T,S, currents, optics, waves, sea level etc.) • Chemical oceanography (TSS, Nutrients, pH, TCO2, etc.) • Marine biology (pigments, biota, etc.) • Pollution( PAH, heavy metals, etc) • Fisheries (aquaculture, fish stacks)\ • Geology and Geophysics (Bathymetry, sysmology, sed. etc) • Remote sensing (aerial photos, satellite images)
