  6. Suggested criteria: • Respect for human dignity - Autonomy …e.g., consent - Welfare… e.g., privacy, confidentiality - Equal moral statues…e.g., vulnerability • No physical or emotional harm as a result of participation in the research

  7. Background Research and Inquiry • …is an important component of all Social Sciences and Humanities • …process in SSH is unique in that it often involves research with human participants. Unlike other disciplines research with human participants is the essence of the discipline • …as a result it is important that clear consistent criteria for ethical research projects be established and used by all teachers and students
