  1. What’s New @ the Libraries We heard you loud and clear! Things you asked for and much more: More Quiet space New computer workstations and printer More loaner laptops New comfy chairs More to come…

  2. Quiet Zone Upgrade The Dobbs Ferry Library has added 14 new study carrels to the Quiet Zone, each with a computer and electric and data outlets to support your technology needs, and a new printer is on its way. Also, six new comfy chairs with tablets have been added to the south end of the Zone. Please take advantage of this newly refurbished space for quiet study.

  3. New Discovery System! The libraries have upgraded their entire back-end system to a discovery platform called “Encore” which will significantly increase the accessibility of our growing digital collections.  More than just a book catalog, this backbone system will integrate all of the library’s scholarly collections and enable users to easily get faster and better search results.  Encore will also allow the library to eventually store and make available Mercy-created knowledge, including both faculty and student research.

  4. Research and Presentation Certificate Winners In recognition of outstanding undergraduate research utilizing library collections and services, 19 Research and Presentation certificates were awarded to students in multiple programs including English, Communication Disorders, Psychology, Business Administration Management and the McNair Program in Spring, 2014. A sample of the culminating student posters are currently displayed in the Dobbs and Manhattan libraries. The Research and Presentation Certificate Program is an opportunity for students to use creativity and multimedia to activate the library walls with vivid and compelling examples of their research. For more information on how to participate in the Certificate program, please reach out to Library Director Mustafa Sakarya (msakarya@mercy.edu)

  5. Computer Arts and Design student work at Manhattan Examples of student design work are on display in the entrance to the Manhattan Library. Students in the Computer Arts and Design program completed a concept poster design project for the Made in Mercy initiative.

  6. New Counter and Computers The Manhattan Library has added a counter with four new computers to support your technology needs.

  7. Global Issues Room The Dobbs Ferry Library has refurbished the Global Issues Room with a new computer, relevant books and magazines, a dry-erase world map, and flags from around the world. Please feel free to use this room for group study when it is not in use for meetings and events. The computer is available upon request for global/cultural research and activities. The Global Issues Room provides information on critical issues, promotes an appreciation of culture, diversity and world events, and inspires students to become activists for positive change in the world.
