  2. What is stress? Stress is our body’s physical and emotional reaction. Both good and bad events can cause stress in our daily life. However, it can have bad effects when it gets out of control.

  3. What creates stress? • Change causes stress – good change or bad change; it does not make a difference. • For instance, getting married or planning a birthday party for a family member can cause stress. • Anything that causes us to have a physical or emotional reaction can create stress.

  5. Stress Relieving Techniques • Start off your day with breakfast. • Take time to think and relax. • Play an instrument. • Listen to music.

  6. Stress Relieving Techniques • Exercise, take a walk – this is the easiest and most effective means of reducing stress. • Be aware of the foods you eat. Some foods with high fat, sugar, caffeine, salt and addictives can contribute to stress.

  7. Stress Relieving Techniques • Organize your work – set priorities. • Don’t try to be perfect. Don’t feel like you must do everything. • Develop a support network.- talk with friends or family that you trust about problems you have.

  8. Stress Relieving Techniques • Avoid people who are “stress carriers.” • Give yourself praise and positive strokes. • Don’t be afraid to ask questions or to ask for help. • Allow extra time to get to appointments.
