A counsellor always knows that a relationship that is basedonfear remainsunhappy andunfulfilling. Lonelypeoplearenotcomfortableintheirowncompany;they continuously find themselves isolated. Lonelinessisaresponsetoadivorceorbreakupofanylong-term relationship.Insuchcircumstances,lonelinesshappensduetotheloss ofaspecificperson.Italsohappensdueto thewithdrawalfrom society. Marriedcouplesalsofeellonelinesswhenthereisalackofaloving relationshiporcommunication betweenthe couple. Somepeoplehaveafearofbeingaloneastheybelievethattheir familymightabandon themat somepointin life. Fearofbeingaloneisalsoassociatedwithalackofself-confidence andself-esteem.Peoplewithlowself-esteemdonotfeelconnected withothers.Theyhaveastrongfeelingthatpeopledonotlikethem, andthey are aburden to others. A person may never have a chance to live alone and enjoy privatemomentsandthecomfortofbeingalone.Becauseofthefear ofbeingalone,peopledoneverattempttoenjoythecompanyofthem, andtheyalwayswantpeople withthem.However,ifthey tryto experiencebeingabandonedandthenstartenjoyingthefeelingof Independence,they becomeveryconfident. HOWTOOVERCOMELONELINESS: There are many advantages to overcome the fear of loneliness. Whenyouarealone,youhavetimetothink calmly,andthereisa particularkindofpeaceyoucanexperience.Timespentaloneis sometimescanevenmoreenjoyablethanthetimespentwithothers. So, one thing to remember is that being alone does not mean Being Lonely. Peoplewhohavegoodrelationswithpeopledonotfeellonely.Ifa person listens patiently and helps others, do not suffer lonely. So the personwhodoesnotmaintaingood relations suffers later.
Inoldage,peoplefeelaloneastheystartfeelingthattheyare worthless because usually, they do not continue to work after retirement.Therefore,aftergettingaretirement,theyshouldkeep some personal work. It will help them feel worthy and confident. The workcanbesocialservice,someteachingtosocietyorrelatedtosome other skill of choice. They can meet new people by continuing some job. If a person’s presence is helpful to other people in any way, he/she willbe wanted everywhere.
