  1. Agenda • Reading Quiz • Close Reading (Nighttime Scene) • Reading (pgs 50-54) • Homework / TTL

  2. 10.31 Causes and Effects (write this on a blank page in your notebook) Willy’s adultery with The Woman

  3. Classwork Instructions 1. Read until page 55, either in partners or independently. 2. Explain the “effects” of Willy’s adultery. Explain how Willy’s adultery affects his relationship with 1) Biff, 2) Happy, 3) Linda, 4) his work, and 5) his philosophy on life. For each “effect”, provide a quotation or a specific reference to the text WITH an explanation of how it is effected by Willy’s adultery. - There will be more than one EFFECT for certain characters!

  4. Homework (DUE THURSDAY) • Read until page 59 for tomorrow. There will be a reading quiz on 50-59. • Annotate the text on either a blank piece of paper or post-it notes (there is no specific # of annotations- just annotate so that you are closely reading the text). I will collect and grade these annotations tomorrow.

  5. Examples of Annotations • Poor: I don’t understand why Willy is treating Linda this way. • Poor: Happy is really overlooked by Willy. • Strong: It does not make sense how Willy treats Linda. Linda is always taking care of him and comforting him; he does not seem to be grateful to her. • Strong: Willy does not seem to pay much attention to Happy seems to be so successful but Willy focuses on all his attention on Biff.
