  3. What is the 16th Annual Alberta Employment & Career Fair all about? It’s an education, job and career help you to Make the Most of Your Future! ?

  4. What Can the Fair Do For You? • Get great insight into careers you are interested in by talking to people who actually do those jobs. • Discover careers and fields of employment that you never knew existed. • Find out what programs are available to get you from high school into your dream job. ?

  5. Why is this important for school? By finding out about available post secondary programs and understanding their entrance requirements, you can: • pick your high school courses wisely • give meaning to your studies by having a goal in mind

  6. What else can the Fair do for you? If you are looking for: • part-time work, or • experiencein a particular field, then this is a chance to meet with employers, and practice your networking skills.

  7. Don’t know what kind of work you want to do? That’s okay. Explore and get introduced to occupations that you may not know about. ? Did you know there are over recognized occupations in Canada!

  8. What happens there? The Alberta Employment & Career Fair is held in one big hall. At the door, you’ll be given a Show Guide. It lists all the exhibitors and provides information about them. It also includes a map of where everyone is located.

  12. What should you ask… POST-SECONDARY & TRAINING INSTITUTES • What new programs and courses do they offer? • What are their entrance requirements for courses and programs that you are interested in? • What percentage of the graduates work in their field after graduating?

  13. What should you ask… COMPANIES & EMPLOYERS • What entry-level jobs and training do they offer? • What qualifications and skills do companies require for specific positions? • What do they personally like most about their job, and working for their company?

  14. What else is there at the fair? INTERACTIVE DISPLAYS Check out the Canadian Forces, Mullen Group and NAIT to try out your skills at the interactive booths around the Fair. DISPLAY AREAS Check out the Edmonton Fire Rescue, Police,Transit, and Emergency Services Academy display areas.

Take a look inside careers – watch real people in real work situations, and listen to what it is like day by day in a variety of career paths. Alberta Learning Information Systems 10:00 AM Modern 2D Character Animation 2D Character Animation's popularity has been steadily increasing within the design and creative field.  People are able to use traditional 2D sketching skills with modern technologies to bring their work to life. Pixel Blue College 11:00 AM Brand Yourself! In Today’s competitive market, employers need to clearly communicate the values and benefits in a compelling way to attract the best talent. There is now training that helps one to break into the career field. There must be training for an event planner to handle all the pressure and work efficiently. This career deals with a lot of communication and organization aspects. There are many different names for an event planner such as a conference coordinator, a convention planner, a special event coordinator, and a meeting manager. MPI Edmonton Chapter

  20. What is Expected of You? PREPARE FOR THE FAIR Bring along questions you want to ask that are relevant to your career goal or interests.

  21. What is Expected of You? ACT PROFESSIONALLY Politeness and respect are required at all times, even when you think no one is listening. Treat your interactions with exhibitors like a job interview. Wait for your turn to ask questions if exhibitors are busy. Listen to what others are asking while you are waiting.

  22. What is Expected of You? SHOW MODERATION Take ‘free items’ only if you are genuinely interested in the company or organization who is offering it. Please take only ONE item from each exhibitor.

  23. What is Expected of You? Please wear your school ID during your time at the fair. WEAR YOUrSCHOOL ID
