  4. Happy Creek Monitoring and Loads

  5. Final Selection of Comparison Watersheds

  6. Happy Creek AllForX Regression B C A Happy Creek B = AllForX value used for the TMDL; AC = the 80% Confidence Interval (shown in green); TMDL = AllForXB x All-forest load; MOS = (AllForXB – AllForXA) x All-forest load.

  7. Basic Criteria used for Selecting Comparison Watersheds • DEQ biomonitoring stations within 30 miles of Happy Creek • Average VSCI > 60 • Minimum VSCI > 55 • Minimum of 3 VSCI samples • Sampled since January 2005 • 2nd to 4th order streams • Only one comparison watershed per stream

  8. Sediment Load Calculation

  9. Allocation Scenarios

  10. Next Steps • Incorporate Happy Creek Sediment TMDL into a combined Shenandoah Tributaries TMDL Report • Hold the final Public Meeting • 30-day comment period • Address public and EPA comments to finalize the TMDL
