  1. Easter By Harrison

  2. Facts • Easter is a Christian festival and holiday celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ on the third day after his crucifixion at Calvary as described in the new testament. • Easter is the culmination of the passion of Christ, preceded by lent, a forty-day period of fasting, prayer, and penance. • The last week of lent is called Holy week, and it contains the days of Easter, including holy Thursday, the last supper, good Friday (the crucifixion and death of Jesus) and Easter Sunday (resurrection day).

  3. Other Interesting Facts • Chocolate Easter eggs symbolized the empty tomb of Jesus. Though an egg appears to be like the stone of a tomb, a bird hatches from it with life, the Easter egg for Christians is a reminder of Jesus rose from the grave and those who believe will also experience eternal life.

  4. Mooorrreee facts • The largest chocolate rabbit was created in South Africa in 2010 by artist Harry Johnson. The rabbit was over 12 feet tall and weighed 3 tons. After being exhibited in a specially constructed chilled Perspex box it was eaten by 250 disadvantaged children. • In all, 90 million chocolate Easter bunnies are made for Easter every year. And, when taking a bite into one of those millions of chocolate bunnies, 76% of Americans prefer to bite off the ears first, while 5% eat the feet first and 4% eat the tail first.

  5. Fun facts • 90 million chocolate Easter bunnies are made for Easter each year. • 16 billion jelly beans are made for Easter (that’s enough to completely fill an 89 feet high and 60 feet wide plastic Easter egg – about the height of a nine-story office building!)

  6. Eggs

  7. More fun facts • 600 million eggs are usually sold in USA during the months of March and April. • Egg, bonfires & candles, lily, cross, palm, bunny and lamb are the most popular symbols of Easter. • In medieval times, a festival of egg throwing was held in church, during which the priest would throw a hard-boiled egg to one of the choirboys. It was then tossed from one choirboy to the next and whoever held the egg when the clock struck 12 was the winner and retained the egg.
