  2. The ruble is the currency of the Russian Federation Russia, the largest country in the world, It stretches over 6,000 miles from the Baltic Sea to the North Pacific.

  3. The Kremlin Moscow is the capital and largest city in Russia. The Kremlin is the center of government.

  4. St. Basil’s Cathedral • St. Basil’s Cathedral is a beautiful building in Moscow’s Red Square. • Because of its many towers it almost looks like a fairy-tale castle or gingerbread house. • The “onion dome” shape is found often in Russian church architecture.

  5. Lake Baykal *It is almost the deepest lake in the world. * It is 6,365 feet deep. Caspian Sea • It has characteristics common to both seas and lakes. • It is not freshwater. • It is one of the world's smallestseas • It is also one of the world’s largest lakes. • It is 152,085 square feet.

Tchaikovsky, Peter Ilich (1840-1893) • 1st Russian composer to gain world wide honors. • He wrote symphonies, operas, piano solos, and ballets. • He is best known for his ballets: Nutcracker, Swan Lake and Sleeping Beauty. *Famous theater located in Moscow. *It has produced some of the world’s greatest dancers *It is known as one of the world’s greatest ballet companies.   8. Geography of Russia • Russia has a very diverse (lots of differences) geography. • Northern Russia extends into the Artic Circle. This area is primarily tundra and forest, with thousands of lakes. • Russia has many mountains areas. The Ural mountains cover 2, 500 miles of eastern Russia. • The Caucasus mountains cross the southern part of Russia, from the Black Sea to the Caspian Sea. • The western border to the Ural mountains is the North European Plain. This is a large rolling plain with rich soil and grasslands.

  12. Baba Yaga Patricia Polacco Famous author and Illustrator from Russia. • Russian children enjoy stories. • A familiar character in many Russian folktale is a witch called Baba Yaga.

Russian Clothing • Russian people where special clothing to reflect the traditions of the past. • Russian costumes are not only beautiful, there are also convenient in wearing because they were created for work without restricting freedom of movement. • Red represents the beauty of their rich history.

  14. Russian Dance Group • Barynya is the best Russian dance and music ensemble outside of Russia from New York. • Dancing reflects the art and traditions of Russian culture.

  15. Outline Russian Travel Brochure • 1. Include a cover page with your name and a famous attraction of Russia. • 2. Brochure should include the history, geography, clothing, and traditions of Russia. • 3. Neat, organized and creative…. • 4. Print out Brochure for final grade in the class.
