  4. SUMMARY (1) Improving Access-1. • 32 States had >=90% completeness of HF reporting in June while others did not meet the 90% target. • Plateau State reported less than 60% of its Health Facilities in June 2009. • Plateau State had less than 50% of their LGAs reporting in June 2009.

Summary (2) Improving Access-2 Fixed Sessions: • 6 States have performance between 80-95% of planned fixed sessions • 10 States conducted less than 50% of planned sessions!!! • 3 States (Ekiti, Lagos, Osun, FCT, Kaduna and Akwa-Ibom ) conducted more than 95% of planned sessions. • However no report from 8 States (FCT, Bauchi, Kogi, Kaduna, Taraba, Benue, Oyo and Ogun) Outreach Sessions • 2 States (Nassarawa and Enugu) have performance between 80-95% of planned outreach sessions. • 14 States(Jigawa, Katsina, Kano, Zamfara, Adamawa, Plateau, Yobe, Niger, Ebonyi, Anambra, Lagos, Edo, Bayelsa, Rivers, and Cross River States conducted less than 50% of planned sessions!!! • 2 other States (Kwara and Ekiti) conducted more than 95% of planned sessions. • However no report from 8 States (FCT, Bauchi, Kogi, Kaduna, Taraba, Benue, Oyo and Ogun)

SUMMARY (3) • DPT3 Coverage. • In NCZ, Plateau and Benue had depreciation in June for DPT3 compared to May while others showed improvements • NEZ/NWZ, Adamawa, Katsina, Kebbi and Zamfara dropped in performance • SEZ only all States except Abia had a drop • SSZ: 3 states; Akwa-Ibom, Bayelsa and Delta had a drop • SWZ Oyo and Osun dropped • In comparison to same period in 2008 • In NCZ, Kogi and Kwara states are performing worse in 2009 compared to 2008 while others are doing better • In NEZ, all states have improved except Adamawa and Yobe with no improvement. • In NWZ all states have performance much worse in 2009 except Sokoto that has shown some improvement. • In SEZ only Anambra showed improvement while some others have deteriorated (ABIA) while the others show very little or no improvement • SSZ All states have made improvements while in SWZ, Osun and Oyo have deteriorated in their performance in 2009 compared to same period in 2008 • Many key states especially in the northwest have more than 40% of their LGAs with DPT3 < 50%, particularly states like Kano with 75% of their LGAs and Zamfara with 65% of LGAs having DPT3 less than 50% • Only Akwa-Ibom State and the FCT have at least 80% of their LGAs with cumulative DPT3 of 80% or more as at June 2009

SUMMARY (4) • Un-Immunized Children • Kano, Kaduna, Katsina, Lagos, Jigawa, Bauchi and Zamfara States have high numbers of Un-immunized Children with over 40,000 un-immunized Children in each State as at June 2009 • However, Kano State has significantly High number of Un-immunized Children- over 10,000 as at June 09!!!.

SUMMARY (5) DPT1/3 Drop out Rates. • DPT1/3 drop out rates continue to be ver high in all States in the NE and NWZ have very high drop out rates except Taraba State. • In the NCZ, Plateau, Niger and Nassarawa recorded high DPT1/3 drop out rates. • In Southern zones, DPT1/3 drop out rates are generally within acceptable limits.

SUMMARY (6) • Vaccine Wastage Rates. • Wastage rates for DPT has remain generally satisfactory in June except in Katsina and Kano • Many States had measles vaccine wastage rates within acceptable limits. • However, Benue, Plateau Bauchi, Kano Kaduna, Katsina, Zamfara, Anambra, Bayelsa, Rivers and Edo states have very high wastage rates for measles vaccine.

Community Link Activities • Most States do not have plans for Community Link activities • Out of the 22,876 HFs conducting RI in the country only 5,658 (25%) have plans for Community link meetings • 38% (8,815) HF have plans to conduct HE sessions. • Only 12 States had a report for community Link between June 2009 • Community Link committee Meetings • Out of the 12 States with reports • less than 50% of planned meetings were conducted in 6 States • In only 3 states were more than 95% of meetings planned meetings conducted. • Health Education Sessions • Similarly for Health Education Sessions • Less than 50% of planned HE sessions were conducted in 3 States • 3 states had more than 95% of HE session conducted
