Best wishes to you. Have a good journey/trip! Good luck! Enjoy yourself! Means of transportation: walking, cycling, horse riding, taking buses/trains/ boats/planes Grammar: 现在进行表将来 Where are you going on holiday? I am going to Hawaii on holiday.

  6. Period1 Warming up & reading Warming up Step I. Lead in 1. Teaching aims (Knowledge & Ability ) Help students get close to the topic: traveling and discuss the destinations and fares. Help students learn new words and their pronunciations. ( journal, fare, transport, Vientiane, Laos, Phnom Penh, Cambodia, HoChiMinh city, Vietnam)

  7. Activities: Brainstorm & Lead in Question: If you were tired, what kind of way do you like to refresh yourself? (individual work) Do you like traveling? Why? Lead in: Before we set off, we should first make a travel plan. What shall we decide? Lead in two words: destination & fare (destination: a place where to go; fare: how much you pay for your traveling.) relaxation

  9. 2. Teaching aims (Knowledge) Help students get to know that the present continuous tense can be used for future use. Activities: Discussion: six questions (pair work) (P17) 1) When are you leaving? 2) How are you going to …? 3) When are you arriving in/at…? 4) Where are you staying? 5 ) How long are you staying in…? 6) When are you coming back?

  10. Discovering the tense and function used in these sentences. (individual work) Explanation: The present continuous tense can be used for future use. It describes what will happen in the future. The first sentence means “When are you going to leave?” or “ When will you leave?” Practice: (whole class work) Can you say the rest five questions in another two ways?

  11. Step II: Pre-reading Teaching aims: Help students activate students’ knowledge about great rivers in the world. Stimulate students’ love for nature by discussing the greatness of a river. Activities: Discuss the great rivers and their locations in the world by filling in the form (ppt.) Brainstorming: How do people who live along a river use it? (pair work)

  14. Step III: Reading (first reading) Teaching aims: Help students learn different reading skills (skimming, scanning &guessing) Help students learn new words: waterfall, rapids, valley, delta, glacier, plain, canyon Help students get a whole meaning of the text.

  26. Step IV: Reading (second reading & reading aloud) Teaching Aims: Help students get to know the organization of the passage. Help students cultivate their ability of reading a passage as a whole, as well as reading between the lines. Help students analyze Wang Kun and Wang Wei’s different characters .
