  2. Field of View • Portion of specimen viewable at the same time • As magnification increases -> Field of view decreases. • Lowest power objective has widest field of view. That’s why it is used to “scan” the slide.

  3. Resolving Power • Ability to distinguish two points as separate and distinct instead of smooshing them together. • Impressionist Art • As magnifying power increases -> Resolving power increases…to a point

  5. Depth of field • Depth or “zone”, from background to foreground that is in focus at once Deep DOF Shallow DOF

  6. Depth of field • In microscopes, as magnifying power increases -> Depth of Field decreases (gets shallower)
