As the global population rises, we face critical challenges in food, water, and energy. Our Energy Research Project seeks to explore various energy sources, including wind, solar, coal, hydro, nuclear, geothermal, natural gas, and biomass. We will define energy as the ability to cause change and analyze how these sources convert energy types, their advantages, disadvantages, and their usage statistics in the U.S. and worldwide. Additionally, we will discuss whether we should prioritize more or less of each energy source, forming an educated opinion based on research findings.

Population Increase • We came up with three main factors we need to address: • Food • Water • Energy
Energy • From our “Meteorite Lab” we decided on a definition for Energy. • Energy is the ability to cause a change. • In our every day lives….we use energy to power all of our devices that we take for granted.
Energy Research Project • Here are a few things we need to address: • How does your particular energy “source” transform one type of energy to another type of energy (how does it work)? • What are some positives? • What are some negatives? • What percentage of the energy used in the United States is this type? Worldwide? • What is your opinion on this…should we be using more or less of this particular type of energy “source”? Why?
Here are our energy source choices: Wind Solar Coal Hydro Nuclear Geothermal Natural Gas Biomass Energy Research Project

Energy Research Project • Your Power Point should answer these questions: • How does your particular energy “source” transform one type of energy to another type of energy (how does it work)? • What are some positives? • What are some negatives? • What percentage of the energy used in the United States is this type? Worldwide? • What is your opinion on this…should we be using more or less of this particular type of energy “source”? Why?
Energy Research Project • What you need: • A works cited list • Power Point slides • These Power Point slides should contain your research information on them and should be plainly formatted. • Help each other out with how to make the Power Point. I’ll be back next week to help you finish it up.
