  2. October 9, 2009 Copy the definition of the word and then respond to the question below. • Bystander:a person who is present at an event without actually participating in it. Have you ever been a bystander in a situation where you could have stopped something bad from happening? If you could go back how would you change your actions? If you cannot think of a time that you were in a situation like this, write a short story with an example of a bystander.

Describe a time when you used a “scapegoat” to get yourself out of trouble, OR a time when someone used you as a scapegoat.

October 14, 2009 Copy down the definition and explanation. • Ghetto: a section of a city where all Jews from the surrounding areas were forced to live. • Surrounded by barbed wire or walls, the ghettos were often sealed so that people were prevented from leaving or entering. They were often overcrowded, and starvation and forced labor were constant. All were eventually destroyed as the Jews were deported to death camps.
