  2. PROBLEM FORMULATION • Rapiddevelopment of IT industry in Poland has been accelerating • Demandfor IT domain workershas grown up rapidly • It has been impossible for universities to train enough graduates • Variety of firms caused variety of workers requirements

  3. IT STUDIES AT THE LUBLIN UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY • At a bachelor level full time studies we offer 150 places • At master level of full time studies we offer 90 places • Additionally we can educate 60 students at each level of part time studies

  4. MAster level IT Studies in cooperation with industry • It studies has been changed. The uniform studies were replaced by two level studies • The master level studies were created from scratch • It firms were invited to create IT studies

IT firms role in studies creation • Discussion about market demandments, workers requirements, new technologies, present problems with our graduates • At the base of discussion the new studies program was created • It firms has offered practices and apprenticeships • It firms took part in diplomas creation – Fifms gave topics and supervisors who took care about practical part of thesis

  6. Requirements variety • To fullfill requirements of a big part of firms various specializations were created: • • internet applications, • • software generation technologies, • • operation of IT systems, • • multimedia systems and applications; • • ICT systems, • • mobile systems and multimedia techniques.

  7. Final impact • Graduates and students are very attractiwe on labour market • 50% of our students joined apprenticeships in the first turn • Over 50% of students that joined apprenticeships program have started full time job in firms where they were trainees • About 60% of students had a part time job in IT firms

  8. Conclusion • Work performed during new specializations creation has built a good picture of Lublin University of Technology among IT firms • All specializations were created in order to answer the needs of local business • About 60 percent of second semester students work in IT firms as IT specialists during their studies. Most of them are computer programmers
