Shelton served in the 30th Virginia Infantry. Davis served in the 27th North Carolina Infantry. Davis surrendered with the Army of Northern Virginia on April 9th, 1865 at Appomattox Courthouse. • Prior to my parents’ generation, none of the members of my family attended college. • The main profession through both sides of my family was farming.
