Today’s Agenda: • Return Reading Responses Today’s Presentations • Sara Pittson: Spenser’s biography (705-07) • Elena Arzate: Brief overview & points of interest—The Faerie Queene, Bk 1, Canto 1 • Eva Marogi: Sidney’s biography (947-48) NOTE: Since Monday’s class was cancelled, Spenser will not be on the final (though you could choose to include him on the essay part). Also, there’s no response question due for Spenser. • Go over key points in Sidney’s The Defense of Poesy and in Astrophil & Stella (sonnets 1, 2, 5, 6, 9, 15).

  2. Reading Homework: • William Shakespeare (pp. 1058-61) Sonnets 18, 55, 60, 73, 87, 116, 128, 130, 138 (pp. 1063-78). You’ll probably want to read more of them. • Essay #2 is due Weds, Nov 17th. • It’s on Shakespeare’s Sonnets. • The instructions are posted online. • Quiz next class on Sidney and Shakespeare: The answers are on these eleven pages: 947-48, 956-60, 967-68, 975-76, 1060-61.
