  1. Read to yourself Stay in one spot Pick good books Read the whole time Build stamina I choose a book. Purpose- Why do I want to read it? To learn or to enjoy Comprehend- Am I understanding what I am reading? Know- Do I know most of the words. I try not to miss more than 5 words on a page. Read to Self

  2. Putting a book away • On your day, put your books back in the tubs so someone else can use them. • Put them cover forward in the correct basket. • Put the basket back in the correct spot on the shelf.

(Elbow to elbow or knee to knee) Use a quiet voice Get started right away Read I Read/You Read or Choral Read Build stamina I choose a book. Purpose- Why do I want to read it? To learn or to enjoy Comprehend- Am I understanding what I am reading? Know- Do I know most of the words. I try not to miss more than 5 words on a page. Read to Someone

  4. Work on Writing • Write by yourself • Stay in one spot • Build stamina • Write on the next blank sheet in your notebook • Put the date on the paper • Use front and back of the pages • Skip lines • Sound out words • Circle words you don’t know
