BONDING. IONIC BONDING. Occurs between a metal and a non-metal. A transfer of electron(s) from one atom (the metal) to the other (the non-metal). The charge that forms on each atom is what holds the two atoms together in a bond. Examples:. COVALENT BONDING.

  2. IONIC BONDING • Occurs between a metal and a non-metal. • A transfer of electron(s) from one atom (the metal) to the other (the non-metal). • The charge that forms on each atom is what holds the two atoms together in a bond. • Examples:

  3. COVALENT BONDING • Occurs between two or more non-metals. • A sharing of electrons happens between the atoms. The shared electron travel on a “bridge” between the two atoms, so each atom believes they “own” the electron. • Examples:
