  2. Educational Enrichment II • Graduation with Departmental Honors – Honors Standing (>3.5 GPA) • CHE H300 Honors Seminar 1 (1,0) • CHE H395 Honors Research I 3(0,9) • CHE H495 Honors Research II 3(0,9) • CHE H497 Honors Thesis 1 (1,0)

  3. Departmental Honors Requirements • Departmental Honors in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering requires the following sequence of courses totaling 8 credit hours: • CH E H300 Honors Seminar 1 (1,0) • H395 Honors Research I 3 (0,9) • H495 Honors Research II 3 (0,9) • H497 Honors Thesis 1 (1,0) • Students in the Chemical Engineering Departmental Honors program will conduct a major research project under the direction of a faculty member and write an honors thesis. In the first semester of the junior year honors students take CH E H300. To earn this pass/fail credit honors students attend the department's CH E 895 graduate seminar and meet individually with faculty members to learn about research opportunities in chemical engineering. By the end of the semester students select a research topic and faculty advisor. In the next two semesters honors students take CH E H395 and CH E H495. In these lab courses the students conduct research, write progress reports, and review their results periodically with their faculty advisor. In CH E H495 each student presents a seminar before the faculty, graduate students and other honors students taking CH E H300. In the last semester of the senior year the student registers for CH E H497 and writes an honors thesis. With the approval of the faculty research advisor the exact timing of the honors sequence can be adjusted to accommodate students who are also involved in the cooperative education program. • Honors Recognition • General Honors is recognized by a certificate of completion upon graduation from Clemson

  4. Get Engaged in Research • With the primary faculty of ChBE • Knock on doors • Talk to their current UG students • Find out what they do and pursue your interest • Read their on-line research interests and profiles • Search their names and published works via GoogleScholar.

  5. Get Engaged in Research • The goals of CH E H300 Honors Seminar 1 (1,0) are to: • Expose you to the research and scholarship of the ChBE Faculty • Have you produce a ChBE Project Description • Action items: • Complete the ChBE Project Description in coordination with your chosen faculty research advisor • Deposit the completed ChBE Project Description in the Digital Dropbox of Blackboard.
