  1. 3D Printing The Future of the World By: Andrew Gruszka

  2. History • 3D Printing began after the invention of Inkjet printers • The technology has rapidly evolved • Used to cost 100k+, now everyone can afford them

  3. Basic Design • All 3D printers begin with a Computer-Aided Design • These designs tell the printer what they need to do • There are many different programs to make CAD’s.

  4. This is the basis of 3D printing • Without this, 3D printers would be much slower and more expensive Additive Manufacturing

  5. Stereolythography (SLA) • First method of 3D Printing • Invented by Charles Hull in 1988 • Basis for future 3D printing technologies

  6. Fusion Deposition Modeling (FDM) • Second method of 3D printing developed • Uses different materials than SLA • Useful for more consumer purposes

  7. Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) • Newest and most popular method of 3D printing • Can make use of a wide range of materials

  8. Medical Uses • 3D printing is making huge strides in being used in the Medical community • Prosthetics • Artificial Blood Vessels

  9. 3D printed Jawbone • An 83 year old woman in the Netherlands had her jaw replaced by a 3D printed titanium implant after getting a bone infection. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-16907104

  10. Future • 3D Printing Technology continues to grow exponentially and will have a huge impact upon manufacturing and production of goods everywhere • The future is undefined for 3D printing, however…
