  1. Clear-Cutting in the Rainforests A show of human’s destructive nature, By Sadie and Alyssa.

  2. Deforestation for cattle • Humans cut down areas of the rainforest, leave only a few trees, and then raise their cattle there. The cattle is then slaughtered, and the beef is sold to countries willing to pay for it. This beef can sometimes be found at fast-food restaurants.

  3. Road-making • Humans construct roads through the jungle, thus enabling cars to drive through and make even more pollution than there already was. • While making these roads they cut down many, many trees, again disabling the natural growth of the jungle.

  4. Deforestation for crops • People with little money do not get enough food out of their normal crops, so they go and cut down a section of the jungle to have more room to grow crops, but the ground of the jungle isn’t good for growing other plants, and so the people go and cut more. It ends in not much food and not much jungle. • Sometimes the grain the farmers grow actually goes to feeding the cattle which goes to feeding the people of North America who are lazing about at the local fast-food joint. If you ask us, our money is definitely going to the wrong people.

  5. Clear-cutting for wood • Like with the cattle, people come in and cut down large areas of jungle, just to get at a few types of trees; these trees are those that have wood that is easily shaped. • The wood is sold to furniture-making companies.

  6. For you to consider: • 50 hectares of jungle destroyed/minute • Jungle the size of a football field destroyed/second • In a couple dozen years there will be no jungle left if we continue as we are doing now. • The green in this picture is the approximate amount of rainforest left right now:

  7. A little food for thought

  8. Thanks for reading this slide-show. I hope we didn’t bore you too much. I know we repeat a lot of the information from the other page, but we feel a lot of people would prefer to see this version, seeing as how it’s so colorful and neat. Thank you!! Sadie and Alyssa☻ Thanks!!
