Credit(s) earned on completion of this program will be reported to AIA/CES for AIA members. Certificates of Completion for both AIA members and non-AIA members are available upon request.This program is registered with AIA/CES for continuing professional education. As such, it does not include content that may be deemed or construed to be an approval or endorsement by the AIA of any material of construction or any method or manner of handling, using, distributing, or dealing in any material or product. Questions related to specific materials, methods, and services will be addressed at the conclusion of each presentation.

Learning Objectives State of Education in South Carolina At the end of this program, participants will be able to: Examine how Supreme Court's ruling in Abbeville vs. South Carolina will impact facilities and education in the state poorer districts. Understand current thinking of Career and Technology Educate (CATE) in South Carolina and how the programs can ready students for the workforce. Recognize overall state of facilities in South Carolina. View how STEM and STEAM schools are faring in South Carolina.

Learning Objectives Sustainability: The Benefit to Districts and Students At the end of this program, participants will be able to: Learn what sustainable features school districts in South Carolina are implemented and the measurable results. Understand the differences between LEED, Green Globes and Energy Star Ratings. Recognize how photovoltaics can and are being used in South Carolina and the payback on the investment . Review how the improved environment can have a positive impact on student achievement.

Learning Objectives Endless Possibilities: A Look at Richland School District Two’s Institute of Innovation At the end of this program, participants will be able to: Examine what types of courses of study are available to the Students in the CCA . Understand the differences between Architectural Design, Construction Management , Applied Engineering and Construction Technology Strand. Recognize the opportunities available to the students in these programs such as: the opportunity to obtain industry recognized certifications. Tour the Shops and Design studios to observe the students at work.

Learning Objectives “Seeing” Past, Present and Future: an innovative Approach to Facilities Planning and Management At the end of this program, participants will be able to: Describe how using a GIS for facilities management is an effective tool for organizing and managing construction and planning documents. Explain how maintaining an accurate inventory of classroom space can improve instructional use of a school building. Recognize an improved workflow for closeout documents that can save district staff valuable time. Describe how training maintenance staff can capture facility data that will improve the quality of the data to make it relevant for the user as well as decision makers.
