  3. Cohort Meeting Expectations All cell phones AND headphones must be put away in backpack, purse, bag, pocket. Listen with respect. -All eyes on speaker -No talking while speaker is talking

Personal Responsibility & PrideAttendance • Texas law requires that students attend school at least 90% of the school year • 8 absences the first semester • 9 absences the second semester • Credit Loss • After the student has missed a class more than 8 times during the 1st semester or 9 times during the second semester, there will be an attendance hold on the student’s transcript. • This means that the student will not receive that credit until attendance hours are made up. • ALL ATTENDANCE HOURS MUST BE MADE UP WITHIN THE ACADEMIC YEAR • If hours are not made up in time, the student will have to make-up missed credit through credit recovery.

Personal Responsibility & Pride: Eagle Time Expectations • Go to your assigned eagle time every day. • This a time to either be studying or doing homework • This is NOT a time to sit in the LC, do hair, make-up or watch videos on your phone. • Teachers will be checking your grades and letting you know what missing assignments you have. • You may not ask to leave to go to another teacher’s class without bringing a pass before the tardy bell rings • You may not leave the room without a pass – you will be asked to go back to your class.

  8. Personal Responsibility & Pride: Character Strong ET Expectations Character Strong is our socio-emotional learning curriculum. It is a character development program that helps students cultivate social-emotional skills, emotional intelligence, and helps them develop a stronger identity and purpose in school and in the world. • Character Strong Eagle Time will happen on Thursdays. • Each student will be assigned to a teacher • Posters will be posted around campus with student names/meeting locations • Character Strong ET attendance will be taken, all students are expected to be present. • Failure to attend can result in truancy-related consequences

Personal Responsibility & PrideBehavior Gateway - Disciplinary Alternative Campus Effective immediately, the following actionswillland you in Gateway: • Fighting on campus • Drug usage (potential arrest, misdemeanor OR felony charge) or being under the influence of drugs • Possession of “Vape Pens” on campus could lead to a felony charge. • A drug conviction with the courts WILL negatively impact your FAFSA or TASFA. • Consuming alcohol/being under the influence of alcohol • Public lewdness • Assault of any person (potential arrest) If you are assigned to Gateway, you lose all bus privileges and you’ll have to find your own ride.

  10. Personal Responsibility & PrideBehavior: IDs IDs are finally here! They will be distributed on Tuesday, January 15th, 2019.

  11. Personal Responsibility & PrideBehavior: IDs • For safety and security reasons, IDs must be worn at all times during school hours. • Replacement IDs can be purchased in A216 (ISS Classroom) with Ms. Kellough for $3.00 each

  12. Personal Responsibility & PrideBehavior: IDs • IDs must be worn by students at all times. First ID and lanyard will be free. • Student IDs and lanyards may not be altered in any way--this means that a student picture may not be covered with a sticker. • IDs that have been altered will be confiscated and the student will be required to purchase a new one • Replacement cost of student IDs is $3.00. • Replacement of a lanyard is $2.00 • Replacement costs for IDs and lanyards will be added to the student’s obligations. If obligations are not paid off, a student may not attend homecoming dance, prom, and other major school functions. • If a student loses his/her ID, that student may order a replacement in the ISS/PAC Classroom (A216 by the APs’ Office) from 8:00-8:30. • Students will not be penalized for requesting a new ID prior to the beginning of the school day.

Personal Responsibility & PrideBehavior: ID Consequences When a student is not wearing his/her ID, that student’s name will be taken down, sent to Ms. Kellough in A216 for a new ID to be reissued. The student is responsible for ensuring that the cost is covered. As such, students not wearing IDs are subject to the following consequences (per six weeks): • 1st Incident - Warning Documented in Skyward; Charged for new ID • 2nd Incident - 1 Hour After School Detention (ASD), Parent Contacted, Charged for new ID • 3rd Incident - 2 Hour After School Detention (ASD), Parent Contacted, Charged for new ID • 4th Incident - Saturday School, Parent Contacted, Charged for new ID • 5th Incident - Additional Saturday School assignment NOTE: If a student misses Saturday School, the student will be assigned 1 full day of ISS the following Monday.

  14. Personal Responsibility & Pride Learning Community Expectations While you are in the learning communities, please remember that you must follow these guidelines: • Food/Drink are NOT allowed • Sit, Study, & Shhh.

Grading Reminders • Check your grades • Failing grades will put you at risk of not graduating. • You MUST be passing in order to receive credit for your classes • Contact your teachers if you’re failing • Counselors are meeting with students who have excessive failing grades • Torres will meet with certain students and assign mandatory tutorials/Saturday school • Credit Recovery • Get those credits DONE!! • Edgenuity credits take longer to complete than A+ credits • You may work on Edgenuity at home/on your own time. • However, pre and post unit/credit assessments MUST BE COMPLETED ON CAMPUS.

  16. Academic Integrity Policy At CCHS, we academic integrity is very important. Please be aware that there are consequences when a student cheats, plagiarises, forges, or fabricates their work.

Academic Integrity Policy 1st Offense: All students involved will be referred to the Assistant Principal (documentation required) Parents will be notified by the teacher and the AP The Assistant Principal will notify all other teachers, coaches, sponsors Counselors will be notified The student will receive the lowest grade possible according to policy on the work with make-up opportunities allowed with a maximum grade of 70% If the student is involved in extracurricular activities, they will be subject to the consequences stipulated by their organization, sponsor, and/or coach Student will receive a one-day Saturday School Student will be reminded of the Academic Integrity Policy and the consequences for the second offense Student will be given another copy of the Academic Integrity Policy 2nd Offense (in any class): All students involved will be referred to the Assistant Principal (documentation required) Student will receive one day of ISS Parents will be notified by the teacher and the AP If the student is involved in extracurricular activities, they will be subject to the consequences stipulated by their organization, sponsor, and/or coach If the 2nd offense is in same Pre AP or AP class, student may be removed from the Pre AP or AP class to an on level class with grade average to stand as is Student will receive the lowest grade possible according to policy with no make-up opportunities allowed 3rd Offense (in any class): Indicates a persistent pattern and the following serious consequences will occur: Student will receive the lowest grade possible according to policy with no make-up opportunities allowed Student will receive two days of ISS

  20. Christian’s Closet If you’re in need of basic necessities, please visit the Counselors’ Office and speak with Mr. Martinez. Resources available: • Food • Clothing • Shoes • Personal hygiene supplies • School Supplies • Counseling & Emotional Support All requests for basic necessities with Mr. Martinez are confidential.

Additional Supports If you’re currently experiencing financial hardship at home, live in a single-parent home, live with multiple family members due to financial constraints, or are at-risk of being homeless, there may be support. Talk to Mr. Martinez or Mr. Torres for more information. All of these conversations are confidential.

  23. Updates from the College & Career Center • Remember your freshman year determines your GPA and will impact your GPA for the next 4 years. • Create a resume • Join a club, sport or do some volunteer work for your resume

Accessing the College and Career Center In order to visit the College and Career Center you… • Must be caught up with all of your classes. • Have permission from your teacher to visit the CCC • Visits will not happen during core classes • Schedule an appointment to see Ms. Crayton using Google Calendar • bit.ly/CCCAppts • You must use your student email for this feature to work • Instructions will be posted outside the CCC.

  25. Accessing Your Academic Counselor To meet with your academic counselor, stop by the counseling office and talk to Ms. Olivieri to set up an appointment. Accessing Your Associate Principal To meet with your associate principal regarding your high school transcript, life after high school, TASFA, FAFSA, college applications, or need to check in to see if you’re on track to graduate, speak with Torres. You can set up an appointment by sending an email to etorres2@bisdtx.org, or asking Ms. Thompson in the front office to put you on his calendar.   27. ACT/SAT Test Dates If you qualify for free or reduced lunch, you can take the ACT or SAT free and apply to some colleges for free. See Ms. Anguiano for the lunch form and Ms. Crayton for a SAT or ACT fee waiver

  28. TSI Assessment Texas Success Initiative (TSI) is an assessment that students should take prior to enrolling in school if your SAT/ACT scores need to be improved. Areas covered on TSI Assessment: -Reading, writing, math We offer the TSI Assessment at CCHS. At this time, you need permission from Torres to take this assessment. If you plan on going to ACC or any other two-year school (technical or community college), you MUST take this assessment (if your SAT/ACT scores do not meet passing standards).
