  10. WP5: mid-term demos (1/2) • Proposed demos by WP3 partners • Telefonica: not able to demonstrate something for March/April 2009, only a slide show of their contribution • I&IMS: first demo probably in April/May (depending on Barcelona University for Content) ??? • Maxisat: possible to re-use the result of Magellan project (light DSL network) with a demo which may be moved in France for mid-term review • DS2/Robotiker: possible to show the preliminary board, but not to demonstrate in April • LRSM: not able to demonstrate something in March/April 2009, ready for the next ITEA symposium in October 2009 • Barco: not present at the call • Thomson Grass Valley: possible to demonstrate HD CDN and VODstreaming, need more information coming from WP2 and WP4 about content format and capacity of terminals or PC emulators

  11. WP5: mid-term demos (2/2) • Link with Use Cases? • Interactions with other WPs • WP2: VITEC, Thomson, On2 • WP4: which terminal for VOD, Pace STB or PC emulator as VLC player? • Open issues • Terminal • Content • Availability of files coming from Thomson and Vitec and On2 • Logistics • List of necessary equipments • Figure • Preliminary interoperability tests: how? When?

  12. WP5: next demos • ITEA Symposium • Finale demos • Schedule the system integration & evaluation performed by Maxisat • Possible to start system integration & interoperability from January 2010 in a dedicated site • Certainly, 2 dedicated integration sessions

  14. Back-up Slides

  15. Thomson Contributions • Cluster for Content Distribution on delivery network • Ingest of profesionnal HD contents • Distribution of HD contents on different storage servers (centralized, edge, local) according to distribution policy by using SVC levels • HD VOD servers • VOD streaming sessions with HD IP STB: play, pause, stop, FFR, FFW • Inter-dependencies within WP3 partners and with other WP partners: • HD Encoders/Transcoders: WP2(VITEC & Thomson), WP3 Telefonica • WP4 - PACE STB • WP4 - PC Emulator for HD decoding (VLC Player)? • WP3 Maxisat DSL network • Involved use cases: HD VOD at Home

  16. Maxisat Contributions • Provides the access to the existing ADSL and FTTH network infrastructure available in Finland for interoperability tests and for QoE/QoS measurements • Contribution network • Home network (household line) • Performs some QoE and QoS measurements with a report • Inter-dependencies within WP3 partners and with other WP partners: • HD Encoders/Transcoders • PACE STB • Thomson VOD servers • Barco probes • Involved use cases: Multicast (TV channels & Live Self produced content) & Unicast (VOD) sessions

  17. Robotiker – DS2 Contributions • Robotiker leader in the « Lowcost HD signal distribution at home through PLC » use case • Objective: using HDTV extenders to broadcast HD streams (TV & VOD) in Home on several TV sets by using only one HD STB • Main Contributors: • DS2 (leader) • Robotiker By using Thomson TV and VOD streams, Maxisat infrastructure • Interdependencies with other WP partners • Pace STB • Involved use cases: Streaming at Home (Multicast & Unicast)
