Ms. Jones’ & Mrs.Nybakken’s Class Week of: Sept. 16-19th Volume: 1 This week in math students are rounding numbers to the neatest 10 and estimating solutions of addition and subtraction problems. We will also practice adding one and two step problems using several strategies. • Friday’s are Future Friday! Students can wear a college or trade school shirt to school.  • Mondays are Spirit Days! Wear a Lakeshore Shirt. Go Leopards! This week in reading we will be jumping into poetry and learning words that make up the structure of poems. We will be using poetry to help us visualize as reflective and responsive readers. • Don’t forget: • Blue Folders/ Conduct folders go home Monday and are due back Tuesday every two weeks. • Homework goes home Monday and is due by Friday every week. This week we will be working with compound words. We will delve into their meaning and structure. This week we are continuing to work in our writer’s workshop, learning what good writers do. We are also still exploring proper capital letter usage and sentence structure. • Early Release Day Thursday, Sept. 19th • EPI fundraisers go home on Monday, September 16, 2013 This week we will be learning about mass and its physical properties such as color, temperature, and magnetism.
