  1. Question 3 – EvaluationWhat kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why? The Hunt Joe Coquet

  2. Mainstream film and independent film - thrillers Films are released by a variety of different film companies, some of which are big, well known names like Warner Bros. and others are smaller like Film4. Smaller companies are more likely to release independent films, like Predestination and bigger companies will release big films, like The Dark Night. Mainstream films Independent films • Medium/big budget • Well known actors • Aimed at wide mainstream audience • Special effects (make it a spectacle) • High production value • High profile marketing • Low budget • Unknown/emerging actors • Aimed at niche audience • No expensive special effects • Production value shows low budget • Small marketing campaign

  3. Our film • Our film falls into the category of independent film, because of factor like our low budget, no well known actors an no expensive special effects. A local film company would be most likely to be interested in our film and distributing it because it is a small film made my local students. This sort of film is unlikely to attract better known film companies like StudioCanal because of our lack of experience in film making.

  4. Where our film would be distributed to • Our film would most likely be shown at small, local cinemas, like the Duke of York’s cinema or maybe an independent film festival. It is very unlikely our film would be nominated for an award, but if it was then it would also be shown at an awards ceremony. • Should our film get distributed, we don’t expect to make much money at all, as it wouldn’t be shown in lots of places that charge people to watch. We could maybe expect to make around £100 if it were to be shown at the Duke of York’s. (Nowhere near the near $3billion Avatar made)

  5. Film promotion • In order to promote our film, we would probably use social media and word of mouth. This is because we cannot afford to run a marketing campaign, even if it were a small one. Social network is a good way to promote a film because it is easy for people to share things and make other people see it, which would help sir up attention for our film.
