  1. P.E. Swimming Intro

  2. Today • Go over swimming rules and guidelines • SWIM!!!

  3. Swimming Attire • Students need to have on the proper swimming attire. (boys = Swimming trunks, Girls = one piece swimming suit not see through) • Girls may wear a two piece if they have a shirt that covers up their stomach, doesn’t show any cleavage, and is not white or see through. • Girls may NOT wear string two pieces on the bottom. Must use the two finger rule to confirm. • If there is any inappropriate dress you will be removed from the pool and given a written assignment that must be done during the hour and turned in the next day for double points

  4. Swimming attire Cont. • If you are not participating you still need to dress in gym clothes and then come in for the writing assignment. • Absolutely no cell phones. If I see them there mine!!! • If on the benches do not throw anything into the pool and also, do not leave writing assignment on benches. • Failure to do so will result in a write up or loss of sitting privileges!!!

  5. Grading • Students will be graded on effort for the day. If you participate you get full points • Each days the pool will be worth 30 points • If you chose not to be in the pool you will be given a plethora of writing assignments that must be done that day and if not turned in the next day or it’s a zero. If you complete the writing assignment you will receive ½ points (15)

  6. Participation • You must participate in some way • If you chose to write and are not on task the whole hour you get a zero and a possible detention. • If you do not turn in the assignment the following day you will be asked to stay after school until it is completed. • If you do not complete the writing assignment for the following day you will be expected to participate from then on IN THE POOL with the schools bathing suit.

  7. Rules when in the pool • You must stay in the pool the whole time!!!! You may get out if you want to jump back in during free pool time and that’s it. • NO RUNNING • NO HORSEPLAY • NO DUNKING OTHERS • DO NOT HANG ON THE STARTING BLOCKS • KEEP YOUR HANDS TO YOURSELF FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH THESE AND OTHER POOL RULES WILL RESULT IN THE WRITING ASSIGNMENT!!!!!

  8. Rules when in the pool • NO TOUCHING!!!! (THIS MEANS NO THROWING, NO INAPPROPRIATE TOUCHING, AND NO HORSEPLAY!!!) • NO RUNNING ON THE POOL DECK • IF YOU GET EQUIPMENT OUT OF THE POOL EQUIPMENT ROOM, PUT IT BACK WHEN YOUR DONE. FAILURE TO DO SO WILL RESULT IN LOSS OF SCHOOL EQUIPMENT PRIVILAGE • Treat equipment with respect and don’t throw it at others • NO hanging on the basketball rim!!!

  9. Failure to follow pool rules • Your pool privileges will be removed and you will lose ALL the points from the swimming section. • Also, you will be written up and receive a detention and possible suspension!!

  10. Typical day • Come to classroom: take notes/review • Go down to pool and change into school appropriate swimming attire. • Swim with instruction for 15-30 minutes. (if test out need to swim in the deep end) • Individual swim time • Change back into school clothes (20 minutes before bell rings)

  11. SHOULD HAVE!!! • Swimming Attire • Towel and Showering tools if needed • Proper attitude
