  3. Direct Carers • People who provide care directly to the client. • E.g. nurses, doctors, social workers, care assistants, nursery nurses.

  4. Indirect Carers • People who provide a service to the direct carers that will ultimately benefit the client. • E.g. medical receptionists, cleaners, porters.

  5. Activity • Write a list of jobs related to health, social and early years services.

  6. Types of Nurses • Nurse practitioner • Midwifery • Health visiting • General practise nurse • School nursing • District nurse

  7. Activity • Listen to the following information on a district nurse and a midwife.

  8. Practical Skills for Nurses • Take temperature, blood pressure • Give injections • Administers medications • Clean and dress wounds

  9. Skills and qualities of a nurse • Sensitive • Energy and stamina • Good communication skills • Ability to cope under stress • Ability to work as part of a team • Knowledge of how the body works
