  2. In Turkey, education became compulsory for 12 years in 2012. It was 8 years before but in 2012 the system has been completely changed. These 12 years are divided into 3 stages: 1- Primary Schools: For children between 6-9 2- Secondary Schools: For children between 10-13 3- High Schools: For children between 14-18

  3. Students begin to learn English at 4 th grade but by the next year they will begin to learn it at 2nd grade. • Students wore blue uniforms but now most schools choose a more modern uniform for their students. • In 2013-2014 Educational Year, students won’t wear uniforms anymore.

  4. Afterprimaryschool, childrenorparents can choosereligioussecondaryschools, ortheymaygo on withthepublichones. Inhighschool, therearemanychoices, most of themafter an exam. • Social Sciences High Schools, • Teacher High Schools, • Police and Military High Schools,  • Vocational Schools, which focus on a certain type of profession (such as Tourism Vocational High Schools, Industrial Vocational High Schools, and Electrical Vocational High Schools •  Private High Schools

Lessons in Primary Schools • Themainlessons at a primaryschoolare; - TURKISH - PHYSICAL EDUCATION - MATHS - ART - SCIENCE - MUSIC - SOCIAL SCIENCES (HistoryandGeograpy) - RELIGION - COMPUTING TECHNOLOGIES - ENGLISH - TECHNOLOGY AND DESIGNING - CITIZENSHIP (AT 8TH GRADE) • Lessonslast 40 minutes in primaryschools, and 50 minutes in highschools. • Studentsgotoschool 30 hoursperweek in primaryschools, meaning 6 classes a day. No school at weekends.

  6. After high school, another exam awaits students for universities. Now there are 104 public and 64 private universities in Turkey. Cumhuriyet (Republic) University is in Sivas.
