  1. Negative Yes/No Questions and Tag Questions Practice with dialogue

  2. Practice You will be paired with someone in class. Discuss with them the following topic: If I won the lottery… – discuss at least two things you would do first if they won the lottery.   – what would you do within the next year?

  3. Instructions You will be paired with someone in class. Choose the part you will play (A or B). The first time you read it, read it exactly as it is written. Then practice the dialogue using negative yes/no questions or tag questions.

  4. Dialogue 1 A: Nice day. B: It’ll rain tomorrow. A: Why should it? B: It’s the picnic tomorrow. Always rains for the picnic. A; You are in a lousy mood today.

  5. Dialogue 2 A: I think I’ll try this one. B: Oh, yes, a lovely color. Just matches your eyes. A: How much is it? B: Twenty dollars. It’s much cheaper than the red one. A: But the red one will wash better.

  6. Dialogue 3 A: I really don’t know what to do… B: Well, that’s why you’re here. You can’t keep it to yourself forever. A: I’ve been such a fool. B: No you haven’t. We all make mistakes sometimes. A: It helps, talking to someone about it.

  7. Dialogue 4 A: You know where the files are? B: I’ve told you again and again that I don’t. A: We’ll just have to help you remember. B: I can’t remember what I don’t know. A: That’s what we’re going to find out…

  8. Dialogue 5 A: You know I love you. B: Yes, but… A: I wouldn’t ask you to do something wrong. B: You haven’t told Jean? A: No, of course not. I’ll be a secret between the two of us.

  9. Dialogue 6 A: Very good. Jorge, that’s a beautiful picture. B: I can paint all over Linda’s picture. A: No, Jorge, we don’t spoil other people pictures. B: I do. A: Now you’ve made poor little Linda cry. B: Get lost. A: Jorge, that’s not the way we talk to our teacher.
