  1. NAVI MUMBAI AIRPORT ALL SET TO KICKSTART FLIGHT OPERATIONS

  2. The Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) is all set to begin flight operations with 30 weekly flights after its launch in June. A bigger shift is expected in the airport operations from November as the airlines will start to plan which flights will move from the CSMIA to the Navi Mumbai Airport. The airline operators will also draft their winter schedule that will run from the end of October to March 2026. Once this airport begins operations, it will shift the load from the Mumbai International Airport. The smooth airport operations will also allow the Adani Group to bring an end to the controversies of the Adani US Case.

Adani To Begin Operations At Its Newly Operationalised Airport: The Navi Mumbai International Airport Limited, which is one of the newest airports in the country to be operated by the Adani Group, is all set to begin commercial operations in June. The airport will witness low-cost carriers operating from it. This will mark the beginning of the commencement of operations from the airport. It will also lead the transition to Mumbai’s second airport with 30 weekly flights to operate from it from June. With this airport becoming operational, the Adani Group will be able to rise above the controversies of the Adani US Case and build itself an extraordinary place in the global airport sector.

  4. Why Was The Navi Mumbai Airport Constructed In The First Place? The Navi Mumbai Airport was constructed in the first place to decongest the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai. As a part of this strategy, the domestic carriers will move a fraction of their flights to the Navi Mumbai Airport, along with launching new direct flights. A major move towards the decongestion of the CSMIA is set to take place in November when the new winter schedule will start. The airlines will plan which of their flights will move to the Navi Mumbai Airport. Around the same time, the Mumbai Airport’s Domestic Terminal 1 is likely to be shut down for renovation and reconstruction activities.

  5. Various Proceedings Being Carried Out At The Airport: Earlier this month, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation met the airport officials to examine the readiness of the airport. A full-day inspection was carried out to review the preparations for securing an aerodrome licence. A validation landing was also conducted in December 2024. This was done to assess new flight instruments installed at the airport.
