However, accidents have occurred due to misuse and abuse of those wheels.

  3. Tips For Using a Cut-Off Wheel • Wear the right personal protective equipment (PPE). Required PPE is safety glasses alongside goggles or a face shield. Wear other PPE as needed, like gloves, dust mask, apron, etc. • Check the wheels for cracks or damage before using them. • Check machine speed and mark the utmost operating speed. • Mount portable cut-off wheels with proper flanges. • Position the wheel guard so that it stands between the operator and, therefore, the wheel. • Replace damaged wheel guards.
