  2. Unit Learning objectives: Reading: • Understand Explicit & Implicit ideas in text • Make connections between information and ideas in a reading selection and your personal knowledge and experience (Text-Text, Text-Self, Text-World)

  3. Learning objectives Continued: Writing: • Develop the main idea with supporting details • Organize information and ideas in a coherent manner • Use conventions in a manner that does not distract from communication (ie. Spelling, grammar, punctuation, etc)

  4. The Test Consists of: • 31 Multiple Choice reading items related to 5 reading sections • 4 open response items related to 3 of the 5 reading selections • 8 Multiple Choice writing items • 2 Short open response writing tasks (opinion piece and news report).

  5. YOU MUST KNOW HOW TO READ: • News Report • Information Paragraph • Graphic text • Narrative • Multiple Choice Q’s

  6. You must know how to write: • Short Answer Questions (Make Connections) • Opinion Piece (5 paragraphs) • News Report • Summary • ROPES paragraph
